Leakers Zuchristian Dachshunds

Hoosier Dachshunds

This page is being made for REFERENCES. This way you can see for yourself from the past buyers; what they've experienced here at "Leakers Zuchristian Dachshunds" (NOT just what you might hear from someone else).   I feel I do my very best to ensure the best quality of dachshund I can produce. Not only that I want our customers not to feel like strangers. I try very hard to please everyone and be more than just a breeder to all of them. Let this page tell it all. Thank you- Sherrie Zuchristian

Bernie Haddad

I have been so pleased with Leakers Zuchristian Dachshunds. Sherrie has been amazing. Although I do not have my puppies home yet, I have been to her home several times to visit with the dogs, both before and after the puppies were born. I had researched for a dachshund breeder for almost a year before I decided on Leakers Zuchristian Dachshunds. After meeting with Sherrie and Brad and visiting with her dogs, it was very obvious to me that they were in this business for the love of the animals. Sherrie’s dogs are well loved and very well taken care of. This is not “just” a business for her. It makes you so sad when you hear about “puppy mill” breeders who are in this only for the money, with no regard for the animal… When you meet someone like Sherrie who takes such loving care of the animals and truly cares about the well being of each and every animal, it makes you feel better to know that there are good people in this business too. I highly recommend Leakers Zuchristian Dachshund Breeders. If you have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to contact me at berniec@netdirect.net.

Tina Allen: Here is an email she sent to tell us about her new puppy.

Sherrie & Brad, Just wanted to send you an update on Polie and a few pictures so you can see how he’s doing. He is going back to the vet this Friday for his last round of shots. He is growing like crazy and weighs in at a whopping 6 pounds at our last vet visit. He’s the chew monster as I like to call him and likes to chew whatever is not nailed down and some of what is! He’s been going on lots of walks in the park with me and has to stop and say hi to every person and animal that he comes across. He’s definitely a social butterfly! He made his first road trip to WV over Memorial Day weekend and had a blast running and playing in the country. He couldn’t get enough of being outside! I hope you all are doing well and that you enjoy the pictures I’ve attached! Take care. Tina

A note from Lisa & Sean Barnes. Who bought a Chocolate/Tan Female from us in March 2006

Hi Sherrie! Just a little note to say hi and to tell you how well Sarah is doing. We have received so many compliments on her disposition (as well as her beauty). She is happy when she greets anybody (my social butterfly)! She even likes to play with our cat.... I took her to the vet the first week we had her and everything checked great! Of course, every one in the office wanted to take her home!!! Dr.Jackson was very impressed with Sarah too. She said Sarah looked like she was going to give us a lot of great years. My in-laws are interested in a male. I think a dapple but don't hold me to that. Who is next to be bred that WON"T be related to Sarah??? Have a great weekend. It's supposed to be beautiful. As always, we keep an eye on your web site. Lisa

A note from Steve & Sally who bought a Black/Tan Dapple Female from us in March 2006

Hello, I just wanted to drop in and let you know that Brandy is doing great. The boys love her to death. We are very glad that we found you and are looking forward to working with you again soon. I wanted to send you a few pictures Buddy is laying on the couch in is spot. And Brandy is laying in her spot on the floor. Steve

Sophie

Here's a note from Kevin and Megan Clary who bought this beautiful black/tan dapple female from us in our March litter from Derby/Duke.

This is what their email says:

Sherrie,
I wanted to update you on Sophie's development! She is very spunky, as you saw
before we picked her up. She is also very sweet and Kevin now understands what I
mean when I say Little Dog, BIG personality!
Here is a link to our website, which is 95% dedicated to puppy pictures!

Now you can see why this little girl is spoiled rotten.

Sue Uhl- with Duchess/Rufus litter from August 2006

Ok Sue and Mark came this time...and purchased 2 more puppies from us. I think Mark wants a whole herd...lol They got a brother/sister "Betsy and Stanley" pair from Guinevere and Cody's litter last summer:

Here are Lola and Louis (pronounced "Lewis") at 2 1/2 months. They only
stay still when they are sleeping, so it's tough to get a good shot of the
two of them together! My husband is absolutely in love with them and can
hardly bear to leave them to go to work. He says that Lola (the black and
tan) is the most beautiful dachshund he's ever seen and Louis the most
handsome. Thanks for helping me bring them together!

Tennessee Puppy: puppy from Amber/Duke 2007

Schnitzel is such a great pup!  He is not shy, scared or imitated by anything.  He already knows his name and is using his puppy pads to go potty.  He's only had three accidents and I think that's great for him being so young.  He's learned to bark and he is giving our cat a run for her money!  He is just cute as a bug's ear.

Thanks again,

Benna

Updated picture of Daisy Mae:

Dear Sherrie and Brad thank you so much for the great doxy puppy. She is the picture of health and has a great personality. I would highly recommend you to anyone looking for a doxy. Being involved in veterinary medicine for most of my life and having Dachunds for the past 17 years I feel I can tell a great breeder and dog lover when I see one. You went out of your way to meet me and save me a lot of time and driving to get this pup. Your prices are outstanding for the quality of dog that you have. I do not think anyone could beat you. Feel free to use me as a reference at any time and keep up the good work.   Bill Collins Largo F.L.

Sherrie thought you might like this photo of the new pup. We decided to name her Daisy Mae instead of Elvira. She is giving Ameila one of my 3 year old females a run for her money.   Bill

Puppy from Cindy/Cody's litter: July 07

We were so excited about this little guy...that I emailed Michele and got an updated picture of Peyton. Take a look

Hi Sherrie,

I just wanted to give you a quick update on Peyton.
He is doing great and fitting in with our family just
fine.  My other two girls were a litle 'put off' by
the new addition but everyday they are less and less
annoyed.  He has been the hit of our neighborhood and
everyone just loves him.

We are so happy to have him!
Thanks,
Michele

Puppy from one of Duke's litters in the Spring of 07

Sherrie,
Robin and I wanted to let you know how wonderful Bella is.  She is such a beautiful little girl, very playful and loving.  We saw on your website that Bella's daddy is fathering a couple litters and we became very excited!  We want to get her a little brother, and Duke certainly has some good looking children!  Bella is so wonderful that we gave no second thought of where to go for a little brother.  We can't wait for spring!!  Thanks for everything Sherrie!
sincerely,
Amy Gaspar

This great puppy went to Chicago

Sherrie:

I know it has been a while since we got Kimmi in March 2007 but I
wanted to let you know how she was doing! She is a very loved and spoiled
puppy and I couldn’t ask for a better girl! I always get compliments
on how pretty and silky her coat looks and how she is very well
behaved. Recently she graduated from puppy classes and we are signing up for
another class for the end of October. Kimmi is so playful and loved
dearly and I am very pleased with her. I am happy I got my puppy from
you; you were very kind and answered my million questions as quickly as
you could and I couldn’t have asked for a better breeder!!! Thank you
for my princess Kimmi, she has changed my life for the better and I
could NEVER imagine being without her!

Ashley Lorenz

I included 2 pictures.....one is from my 21st birthday and the other
one is from the other day, it was actually the day after we got Kimmi
 spayed. She's so cute!!

Amber/Duke puppy 06- went to Chicago

Once again we thank you for Zorra, she is the most wonderful dog in the world.  She is doing great with us and is extremely spoiled.  She had a blast last week in Colorado where there was a lot of snow.  Everyone just loves her and she brings us bundles of joy.  We told some friends about Leakers Dachshunds and they aren't still sure, but they are thinking of getting a dachshund.  Their last name is Kaszuba, so if they e-mail you don't be surprised.  I hope everything is running smoothly and Zorra gives hugs and kisses to her daddy and mommy. I was also wondering if you gave Amber away to that different breeder because the Kaszubas I "think" wanted tweenies or a standard.  Once again THANK YOU!!! I hope you like the pictures!

This puppy went to Terre Haute, IN

Sherrie,
I just wanted to thank you again for working with me last summer in picking out the perfect puppy for my mom (shes from your july 4th litter). She's turned out to be the best puppy and a perfect match for my mom. She gets along wonderfully with my other dogs, though the other doxie still isn't sure somedays how he feels about her when she steals "his" chair. We get compliments on how cute she is, the vet is in love with her personality and her coloring, she's absolutely the sweetest girl. She's always following you or sitting on your lap and even makes the sacrifice to keep your seat warm on the couch when you have to get up =) She definately has the "big dog" doxie attitude that we know that most all doxies possess. I just wanted to say thank you again for working with me to find the perfect pup for my mom! I'll definately be calling you again when it comes time for another friend and I definately won't hesitate to recommend you to others I know who are also dachshund lovers.

Thanks again!
Jessica Davis

p.s. I've attached a picture of our little girl, she's always on the move so its sometimes hard to get a good picture, but I think this helps describe her personality!

Carmel, IN- Puppy from Blossom/Duke07

Hi Sherry, it's been a little while since we took home the little male, Piebald doxie. We just wanted you to know how happy we are with him!!! His name is now, Louie, and he is holding his own with all the other dogs in our house - even my 90 pound Yellow Lab! He is great! Everybody who sees him falls in love with him. And his coloring is so unique. Last, but not least, my hesitant wife and Louie are almost inseparable!

Thanks again. Our trip to Greenwood was definitely worth our time. Who knows................we may be back to purchase Louie's brother or sister in the near future.

Take care,
Bob Merchant
Here's an updated Picture of Louie

Sullivan, IN- Puppy from Derby/Rufus 2007

Hi Sherrie,

I just wanted to give you an update on the puppy. We named him Theodore and call him Theo. We went to the vet on Sat. and had a check and a shot and he now weights 3 pounds. Growing like a little weed! He is very happy. Loves to go out and play. He is doing really well with his house breaking. Only a few accidents which have been mostly our fault. He is wonderful and we love him very much. When we are not working he is with us everywhere we go. The Great Dane loves him and just lays and lets him crawl all over him.
Thanks so much! I tell everyone where I got him and that you will have more litters soon.

Lennie

Puppy from Cindy/Cody's 2007 litter

Sherie:

Just wanted to give you a quick update on Kahnnie.  She has adjusted so

well to living in the Dolbeer household.  She is spoiled rotten and
will
only sleep if someone is holding her (if she gets desperate, she will
sleep on my feet).  Todd already has her sleeping in the bed with us
(not MY idea!!!!).  But she is almost perfect.   Thank you so much for
such a wonderful addition to our family.

Thanks again

Kim Dolbeer

Puppy produced from Duke

Hi Sherrie,

Thanks for the puppy update.  I just wanted to take a minute and update you on lilttle Dulci.  Well... she's not so little anymore, but she's definitely my baby!  She just lights up everyone's life around here... she is one loved, pampered and spoiled pooch!
I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Take care!

Angie & Dulci

Puppy produced from Cody/Guinevere

Sherrie:

Just a quick little note re: out baby Sedrick.  He is such a ham.  As
you
can see by the photos he has lightened up quite a bit, but still has
black
on his ears and the time of his tail.  The vet believes some of his
skirting
(the long hair he will get on the sides of him) when he is older will
be
darker too.  He is still trying to figure out the potty training thing,
but
of course we don't have very many accidents at all.  I think maybe he
doesn't like the cold (ha who would want to potty outside on a day like
today.)  Our family just adores him and are very grateful to have him.

Julia Kindley

Hello, Sherrie. It's been quite awhile since we picked up Pretzel, so I thought I'd share a few pictures of her. She just finished getting spayed last week, so she's now a "safe" puppy!

Hope all is well with you and your family.

Pup from Hanna and Cody

Just wanted to let you know that Henna (she is named after the black ink usd in Middle Eastern wedding ceremonies) is getting along wonderfully. Currently, she is curled up with the monkey that the kids picked out for her when she left your home. Mom let her in bed with us the second night and that is where she sleeps now. She is all puppy and has made a reluctant friend with our male cat. It is so much much fun to hear her chase him around the house. He will actually play with her until she gets too rough then he finds a safe spot in a window-sill.

She has markings almost identical to Cody except the hair on her chest which is very light in color. She is already a wonderful and beautiful girl and I can't wait for her to reach maturity to see what a wonderful young lady she makes.

Thanks a bunch,

Johnny and family

This is one of my daycare moms that bought one of Sylvia's pups

Did we ever get you those pictures of Sara? I was looking at your website today and saw that you have testimonials on it. So I thought we could add one, if you want.

Sara is now six and a half months old. She is a pistol! What your site says about girls being more dominant than boys is so true! We have a male cat, as well, who is 12 or 13 years old. He is forever smacking at her (he's declawed) because she's trying to either play with him or get him out of "her space." Just last night, she started climbing up onto the arm of the couch, trying to sit there like he does. When she rolled off onto the cushions of the couch, I could only laugh. She is rather quiet most of the time, though. When she was first brought home, we wondered for weeks if she was a mute! But then she started whining and then howling. I teasingly quoted the movie The Fox and The Hound, saying, "I'm a hound dog." She doesn't howl so much anymore, but she does bark at the kids when the play outside without her. Other than that, she's quiet.Tylor and Adrianne love to play with her. They let her chase them through the house. Sometimes I think it's just to drive me crazy! When the kids aren't pestering her, she's calm and relaxed, and loves to cuddle on the couch or my mom's green oversized chair. Her favorite toy is a little pink squeaky dog thing. She carries it around just skeaking away.

Thanks for the opportunity to get Sara. As much as I always said I didn't want a pet, I love having her...granted my mom takes care of her the most, even though the kids said they would. Anyway, thanks again. You're a wonderful help when emergencies arise with her (or any dog), and a wonderful daycare provider.

Sincerely,
Shannon Stinson

Hey Sherrie!  Sorry I haven't had the time to call you back, but
everything is going great with "Biggie".  Here are a couple pics...oh,
and we had him checked by a vet, and he is a healthy pup!

Thanks again!

Stuart

This puppy here is the most spoiled puppy EVER!! Friends of ours that live near our subdivision bought little Stuart. So as he grew they would come to visit everyday on their way home. So he was spoiled before he ever got to go home. But he is just adorable its hard not to spoil something as cute as this little guy....plus I can go and see him anytime I want. He is a puppy from Cody/Cindy litter and this is what she'll have again here very soon. Ever wanted a dapple/piebald like him call me.

Henna

Henna is from Cody and Hanna from February of this year. I really don't know how we got along with out her. I have a new couch buddy for watching the Colts, a new playmate for the kids, and we get compliments everywhere we take her. Her hair started really coming in about three months ago and she has finally grown into it. For those people who haven't seen a Dachshund getting their long hair I really don't think they know the meaning of "awkward" stage.
Aside from her camping out on my head whenever we lay down for a nap she is perfect. Thank you!
Oh yeah, do Dachshunds ever run out of saliva? She could lick the salt off of a box of saltine crackers and still try to clean herself and half the family!
Enjoy the pics and thanks again.

Angel/Duke puppies

Sandy got these 2 little guys from us from Sept.

Sadie Mae

Thought I'd let you know how pleased we are with Sadie Mae.  She loves playing with Buddy, they get along so well.  She is cute and she knows it.  She's daddy's girl. I've attached a picture so you can see how pretty she is.
Cody and Guinevere produced a beautiful girl in Sadie Mae.

This is one gorgeous English Cream we've had here.

Puppy from Duke/Sylvia

Hi Sherry!
Just wanted to share with you some pictures of Dutchess Bran-Dee Whine that came from Sylvia and Duke's litter we picked up in November of last year....some puppy shots and some older ones.
We love her so very much and is SPOILED rotten!  She is so well mannered and is the best...thank you!

These wonderful guys are in Louisiana

Hi Sherrie,

Here are the pics of Buddy and Tootzy I promised you. These were taken July 4th weekend 2008, with Tootzy being 14 months old at 15lbs and Buddy is 30lbs at 9 months old!

As you can see, they are both doing well. Pam and I appreciate everything you've done to help us get our 2 new children!

Murphy

This is  Michele Stevens.  I wanted to share a picture of Murphy with you.  He has really grown since I bought him from you on Aug 3.  He's  now 7lbs and still growing!  His temperament is so much different than my last dachshund.  I'm convinced that my last dachshund came from a puppy mill.

The picture I'm sending is Murphy and his mentor, Marley.  They do everything together!

I'll keep in touch.

Another Standard pup from Sylvia

Hi Sherrie,
It's Addie just wanting to send you a few pics of Mystic and her new family. I attached a picture of the day we brought her home. One is with her and her best friend Karma (a 40 lb. Shepard mix) kissing. I went into my step daughters room to find Mystic, Karma, and her new friend Trixie (our Bengal cat) lying on the bed sun bathing together. The profile of her is the most recent. It is very hard to get her to hold still long enough to snap a pic. She is doing better than ever. Her record of 24 laps around the coffee table still stands. She is so sweet and we both love her very much. I can't thank you enough. She is the perfect addition to our family. She also still has her coffee almost every morning. Bobby never gets a cup to himself he always has to share. Thank you again for our baby Mystic.
